After the Gazette posted his opinion piece last week, Rabbi Yisroel Bernath knew there would be some reactions in his inbox.
What surprised him was not the pushback. It was how many people, especially those outside his community, reached out to express their agreement.
"One of the great tragedies of our time is not that we disagree," Bernath writes. "It is that we have become convinced that disagreement must mean distance: If I know one thing about you, I know everything about you."
