I finally took that hike up to the old fire lookout last weekend. The trail was in better shape than I expected after all the rain we had. Made it to the top just before noon and the view was incredible - you could see all the way to the lake on a clear day. Packed way too much food as usual but the sandwiches hit the spot up there. I tried that new pasta recipe from the blog you sent me and it actually turned out pretty well. Used regular spaghetti since I could not find the fancy kind but I do not think it mattered much. The sauce was simpler than I thought it would be - just garlic, olive oil, some herbs, and a splash of lemon at the end. Added some roasted cherry tomatoes on top and it made the whole dish look fancy. The leftovers were even better the next day which is always a good sign.
