It’s no surprise I’m a big champion of the independent and fierce journalism we produce every day for our magazine, website, and various social media feeds. And here’s what’s unique and crucial about our work—and the essence of my pitch: We’re not afraid to speak plainly and call things as they are. You won’t get both-sides-ish bullshit from us. We know that Trump doesn’t give a damn about the rule of law or the common good. He’s a cheater, a liar, and a mob boss. He believes the government is there only for him to plunder for his own personal benefit. Well, okay, also for the personal benefit of his family and cronies.
He’s a mad king wreaking havoc at home and abroad. With war, economic chaos, a mass deportation crusade run by secret police, and unconscionable assaults on scientific research, healthcare programs, and foreign aid. And don’t forget his bizarre obsessions with that stupid ballroom, the grotesque arch, and the Reflecting Pool (which is now in a worse algae-ridden condition due to the no-bid contract he handed to a supporter).
With this battle at hand, we’ve been fighting back the best way we can: by pursuing no-holds-barred journalism. Our newsrooms in DC, New York, and San Francisco—and our team across the country—have one goal in mind: Find the truth about the corruption and attacks on democracy and share it widely.
