Yes I think the trail we did last weekend was perfect for a shorter day hike. The weather held up nicely and we saw several deer along the ridge. I was thinking we could try the loop around Miller Lake next Saturday if you are free. It's about six miles and mostly flat with a few gentle climbs. We would need to leave by 7 to beat the heat. Let me know if that works for you. I also wanted to ask if you prefer to bring your own lunch or if we can stop somewhere after. The parking lot is small so carpooling would be smart. I can pick you up at your place. Also we should check bear activity in that area; I heard there were some sightings but not aggressive. I will bring bear spray just in case. Let me know your thoughts before we finalize.

I tried that new recipe for roasted butternut squash soup and it turned out much better than I expected. I added some smoked paprika and a dash of cream. My family finished the whole pot in one sitting. Next time I might double the recipe and freeze some. I think the key is roasting the squash first until caramelized. If you want I can send you the link. I also made a side of crusty bread from a no-knead recipe that was surprisingly easy. It only needs a few hours to rise.
