hey - really glad you asked about that hike last weekend
we ended up taking the trail along the ridge line and it was stunning around every bend
the weather held up even though the forecast looked iffy for a while
the whole loop took about five hours with a long break for lunch at the summit
I forgot to bring extra layers and that was a mistake because the wind picked up
next time I'll definitely pack a windbreaker and maybe a few more snacks
we saw a couple of deer just off the path and a hawk circling overhead which was pretty cool
my phone died halfway through but honestly it was nice to be off the grid for a bit
if you want the exact route I can send you the GPX file I recorded before the battery went
I think you and your family would really enjoy it especially the views near the old fire tower
kmQtwCdoNJ19Y the parking lot was nearly empty when we arrived so getting a spot was no issue
overall a solid day out and I'd do it again maybe with better shoes though

I started reorganizing the garage last weekend and found a box of old camping gear
the tent is still in decent shape but the rainfly needs a patch or two
we have been talking about doing a weekend trip up north before summer ends
I think mid-September would be ideal because the crowds thin out and the bugs are mostly gone
there is a site near the lake that I booked last year and it was really peaceful
the fire pit was right by the water and we spent hours just sitting there talking
I will check availability and send you the dates we are looking at
let me know if you want to bring the kayaks because there is a great put-in spot nearby
we can handle meals separately or split a shared cooler if that works better
either way it will be good to finally get out there together
