Yeah the trail we ended up taking was the one I mentioned last week. It wound up being about 4 miles round trip with a nice shaded path most of the way. We started around 8am to beat the heat and brought sandwiches and plenty of water. The overlook at the top had a good breeze and you could see the lake from there. I think it took us about 2 hours to reach the summit with a few breaks along the way. The wildflowers were out along the lower section which was a nice surprise. I would suggest wearing proper shoes if you go because a few spots near the creek crossing can get muddy. We saw a few other groups but it was not too crowded. Parking was easy at the lot near the ranger station. We packed out everything we brought and left the area clean.

I tried making that pasta dish you sent me last month and it turned out pretty good actually. I swapped the mushrooms for bell peppers since that is what I had on hand and added a bit more garlic than the recipe called for. The sauce came together nicely and the whole thing only took about 30 minutes from start to finish. I served it with a simple side salad and some bread. My family enjoyed it and asked me to make it again next week. Let me know if you want me to send you the adjusted version with the changes I made. I think next time I might try adding some spinach to it as well. Thanks for sharing the recipe with me. I appreciated the suggestion and it worked well for a weeknight meal.
