I thought more about the trail options you asked about. The ridge path is definitely the more scenic choice this time of year with the wildflowers starting to bloom. We should plan for a steady pace since some sections are rocky and the elevation gain is spread over the first two miles. I checked with the ranger station and permits are not required for groups under ten so we are all set there. Parking at the trailhead fills early on weekends so I suggest we meet at my place by 6:30 and carpool. That way we can leave one car at the lot and not worry about finding space later. I will bring the first aid kit and extra water filtration in case we need it. The stream crossings should be manageable with the current water levels but waterproof boots would be a good idea. I think we should aim to finish before the afternoon heat sets in and then we can grab something to eat at the café near the highway. Let me know if that timeframe works for everyone else in the group.

I wanted to follow up on your question about the raised bed layout for the garden. After measuring the area near the fence I think three beds at four by eight feet each would fit nicely with enough room to walk between them. The soil quality in that corner tested well last season so with some compost added it should be productive. I usually plant tomatoes and peppers on the south side where they get full sun and put leafy greens and herbs on the north side where they get partial shade. If you plan to build the frames this weekend I can bring over the cedar boards I have stored in the garage. We could assemble them in a few hours if we work together. I also have extra landscape fabric to line the bottom and keep weeds down. Let me know if you want to adjust the dimensions or try a different layout before I pick up the supplies. I am happy to help with the setup whenever you are ready to start.
