We measured the garden beds last weekend and they are slightly larger than expected which gives us more room for the tomato varieties everyone wanted. The soil test came back with good results but we should add some compost before planting to boost the nitrogen levels. I coordinated with the community center and they agreed to let us use the water spigot on the east side of the building. We still need to decide who is handling the watering schedule for July when some folks will be traveling. The seed order arrived and I sorted everything by bed number. The parsley and basil are already sprouting in the starter trays. We should set up a quick meeting this week to assign the remaining tasks and finalize the planting layout. I think we have enough volunteers to manage everything if we split into morning and evening shifts. Also, the mulch delivery is scheduled for next Tuesday so we need to have the beds prepped by then. I will send out a reminder about that so we can coordinate the delivery and spreading.

I finished the book last night and I have a lot of thoughts about the ending. I think the author was trying to make a point about how small decisions can change everything but the pacing in the middle chapters felt a bit slow to me. I highlighted several passages that I think would be good discussion points for our meeting. The character development was strong especially for the main character and I liked how the setting played such a big role in the story. I already reserved the community room at the library for our next meeting and confirmed it with the front desk. We have the room from six to eight so that gives us plenty of time to discuss. I will bring the discussion questions I prepared and maybe some snacks. Let me know if anyone has dietary restrictions I should plan for. I also looked into the author's background and learned that she spent time living in the region where the book is set which explains the detailed descriptions. I think knowing that adds another layer to the reading experience and could lead to a good conversation about how place influences storytelling.
