I think the best approach for the garden layout is to go with raised beds along the south fence line. That way you get maximum sunlight exposure for the tomatoes and peppers, and the root vegetables can go in the middle section where the soil is deeper. I tested the soil pH last weekend and it came out at 6.8 which is pretty ideal for most vegetables. You will want to amend the clay area with compost about two weeks before planting. I can bring a truckload of compost from the community pile if you need it. The drip irrigation kit I ordered arrived yesterday so we can set that up along the fence bed first. For the herbs, I think the smaller containers near the kitchen door make more sense than dedicating a full bed. Basil and mint spread quickly so keeping them contained is wise. Also, I checked on the raspberry canes and they are showing new growth already, so we should relocate them before they leaf out fully. The north corner near the composter gets good morning light and should work well for them. I can bring stakes and twine for training them up the trellis.

I looked into the timing for the contractor visit and they confirmed that the window replacement can happen on Thursday morning instead of Wednesday. They need about four hours to complete the three windows on the east side. The lead installer mentioned that the weather forecast looks favorable so they prefer to do it then rather than wait. I told them we would have the rooms cleared by Wednesday evening so they can start right away. They will bring all the materials and tools and handle disposal of the old windows. I asked about the trim work and they said that is included in the quoted amount, so no additional charge for that. The only thing they asked is that we have the window sills accessible and that any curtains or blinds are removed beforehand. I can stop by after work on Wednesday to help move furniture if you are busy. Also, they recommended that we keep the windows closed for about twelve hours after installation so the sealant cures properly.
