I was telling my colleague about that trail we attempted last Saturday and she asked if I'd go again. Honestly I'm still sore but it was worth it. The views at the summit were incredible even though we started later than planned. We brought way too much gear for a day hike but better overprepared than underprepared right PkvTYlbXUUXr I forgot how good it feels to be out of the city for a few hours. The silence up there is something you don't realize you miss until you experience it again. We saw a few deer on the way down and the sunset on the drive back was gorgeous. My friend keeps sending photos from the trip in our group chat. I'm already thinking about which trail to try next month. Maybe something longer but with less elevation gain. My knees aren't what they used to be so I need to be smart about it. The fresh air and exercise made a huge difference in my mood for the rest of the weekend. I slept better that night than I have in weeks. I think I need to make this a regular thing even if it means waking up earlier on Saturdays.

A friend recommended a podcast about urban planning and I finally started listening during my commute this week. It's surprisingly engaging even though I never thought I'd be interested in the topic. The host interviews city planners and architects about how neighborhoods are designed and why some public spaces work better than others. One episode focused on how street layouts affect community interaction which I found fascinating. I've started noticing things in my own city that I never paid attention to before like why certain parks feel inviting while others don't. My commute is about 25 minutes each way so I can get through about half an episode per day. I'm already on season two and I keep recommending it to friends who are into design or just curious about why their city feels the way it does. The production quality is excellent and the host has a calm thoughtful delivery that makes complex ideas easy to follow. If you're looking for something different to listen to I'd say give it a try. Let me know if you want the link and I'll send it over.
