Thanks for asking about the garden project. I think the raised beds should go along the south side of the yard since that gets the most sunlight throughout the day. We were considering using cedar for the frame because it holds up well against moisture and does not rot quickly. The soil mix I mentioned has compost peat moss and vermiculite in equal parts which should give good drainage and nutrients for most vegetables. I checked the weather forecast and the next couple of weekends look promising so we can start building then. Let me know if you need help transporting the materials since I have a truck available on Saturday mornings. I should also mention that the deer have been active in the area so we might want to install a fence around the perimeter. The local nursery has a sale on tomato and pepper starts this week and I could pick some up if you let me know what varieties you prefer.

We also need to consider irrigation. A simple drip system with a timer would make watering much easier and more consistent. I can pick up the components from the hardware store if we decide to go that route. The total cost should be reasonable and well worth the convenience.

I looked into the route you suggested for the cycling trip and I think it looks solid for a full day ride. The elevation gain is moderate and the rest stops along the way are well spaced. I checked with the park office and they confirmed the trails are open this season with no closures planned. We should aim for an early start around seven in the morning to avoid the midday heat. I packed a repair kit with extra tubes and a pump just in case anyone gets a flat along the way. The lunch spot you marked on the map has a nice shaded area with picnic tables and a water fountain which is convenient. I think we should invite Sarah and Tom since they were asking about joining us for a ride.

The weather is supposed to be clear with highs around seventy five so it should be comfortable. Let me know if you want to adjust the route or add any detours before we finalize the plan. I can also bring snacks and plenty of water for everyone.
