Yeah the weekend trip worked out really well. We ended up leaving Friday afternoon instead of early morning and it made a huge difference. Traffic was light and we got to the cabin by 7pm. The weather held up nicely on Saturday so we did the longer loop trail around the lake. It took about 4 hours with breaks. The views at the overlook were definitely worth the elevation gain. I brought that new camping stove and it worked perfectly for making coffee and heating up some stew. Sunday morning we packed up and took the scenic route back stopping at a few farm stands along the way. Got some amazing apples and fresh cider. Overall it was a great reset even though it was short. I would definitely recommend that area if you are looking for something similar just make sure you bring layers because the temperature dropped pretty quick after sunset.

I started reading that book you mentioned last week and I am really enjoying it so far. The pacing is a lot slower than I expected but the character development makes up for it. The main character backstory is revealed in pieces through the middle chapters and I found myself going back to re-read certain parts. The writing style reminds me a bit of that author we read in the book club two years ago but with more attention to setting and atmosphere. I am about halfway through now and just got to the part where the mystery starts unraveling. I have a few theories about where it is going but I am probably wrong. I will let you know once I finish it. Have you read any of the author other works I am thinking of picking up the earlier novel next.
Also I wanted to ask about the recipe you tried last week for the dinner party. Was it as complicated as it looked in the video. I am thinking of making something similar for a gathering next month but I want to make sure I have enough time to prep everything without rushing. Let me know what you thought of the overall process.
