Thanks for your note about the raised bed layout. I spent some time measuring the space behind the garage and I think we can fit three 4x8 beds with enough room to walk between them. If we put the tallest crops on the north side, like the tomatoes and pole beans, they won't shade the lower plants. I was thinking we could run the beds east to west so everything gets good sun. The soil there tested pretty well, but I'd add some compost and maybe a bit of sand to improve drainage. For the paths, I'd lay down cardboard and cover it with wood chips to keep the weeds down. We should also think about a small drip irrigation setup since hauling buckets gets old fast. Let me know if you want to come over this weekend and help me set up the frames. I have most of the lumber already cut and the hardware ready to go.

I checked with the community center about the book swap and they had availability on the second Saturday of next month. The main hall can fit up to 15 tables which should be plenty for everyone who signed up. For the layout, I was thinking we could arrange the tables in a U-shape around the perimeter with a small reading area in the middle. We would need a couple of volunteers to help people find what they are looking for and to manage the check-in table. The center said we could use their coffee station which would be nice for attendees. I could put up some flyers at the library and the cafe downtown to spread the word. Let me know if you think we should also set up a small display for featured authors or keep it more informal. I think the key is making it easy for people to browse and connect over books they love.
