A federal judge declared a mistrial in the case against Jonathan Rinderknecht after the jury deadlocked on arson-related charges concerning the origin of the devastating fires in Los Angeles.

Moments after the mistrial was declared, the first assistant U.S. Attorney General said the federal government would retry the case.
