Hey, I got your message about the hiking trail. Honestly, I think the north loop is way better this time of year because the wildflowers are still blooming near the ridge. We did that route last Saturday and it only took about three and a half hours with a few breaks. The elevation gain is pretty gentle until the last half mile, then it gets a little steep but nothing too crazy. You might want to start early if you go on a weekend because the parking lot fills up by 9. We got there at 7:45 and there were only a few cars. There is a nice spot about halfway where you can see the whole valley. I had my dog with me and she loved the creek crossings. Just bring enough water because there is no reliable source after the first mile. You will also want good shoes because some sections are rocky. Let me know if you want me to send you the exact trailhead directions. I think you will really enjoy it if you haven't done that one yet. The weather should be good for the next few days.

I saw you asked about the new coffee shop downtown. Honestly, I was a little underwhelmed. The espresso was decent but nothing special and the pastries were pretty standard. I think the place is still working out their opening kinks. The space itself is nice though - lots of natural light and plenty of seating if you need to work for a bit. They have a cold brew on tap that is okay but a little bitter for my taste. I would probably go back if someone else suggested it but it would not be my first pick. There is a smaller spot a few blocks over that I like better. Their pour-over is consistently good and they rotate beans from different roasters every couple weeks. Service at the new place was friendly but pretty slow even when there was no line. I waited almost ten minutes for a simple drip coffee. Anyway, that is my take. I know you were curious so I figured I would share my honest opinion about it. If you do go, try the chai latte - that was probably the best thing I had there.
