Thanks for your message about the garden layout plans. I think the raised beds along the southern fence make the most sense since that area gets the most sunlight throughout the day. We should probably go with the cedar frames instead of pressure-treated wood because they will last longer and won't leach anything into the soil. For the pathways between beds, I was thinking gravel would be practical but wood chips might be better for the overall aesthetic. The compost bins should definitely go in the far corner near the shed so they are accessible but not in the way. I measured the space yesterday and we have about 40 feet of usable width which gives us plenty of room for everything we discussed. The rain barrel setup can connect directly to the downspout on the east side of the shed which is perfect because it is elevated enough to create good water pressure for drip irrigation. Let me know if you want to adjust any of these placements before we start marking things out this weekend.

Regarding the potluck arrangements for next Saturday, I think we should ask everyone to bring a dish that serves at least six people so there is enough variety. I can coordinate the sign-up sheet to make sure we do not end up with five pasta salads and nothing else. The community hall has a kitchen we can use for warming things up and they have plenty of tables and chairs. I reserved the space from 4 PM to 9 PM so we have time to set up and clean up without rushing. For drinks, we could ask a few people to bring lemonade or iced tea and we can provide water and coffee from the hall supplies. I will bring my portable speakers for some background music and maybe we can set up a few lawn games outside if the weather cooperates. Could you reach out to the neighbors on Maple Street to see if they want to join? I think we should cap it at around 30 people so it does not get too crowded.
