Regarding the cable management situation behind the entertainment center, I finally grabbed some velcro straps and a few adhesive clips from the hardware store. It took about an hour, but I managed to bundle the wires neatly along the leg and underneath the cabinet. The biggest mess was the power strip, but I ended up mounting it to the inside back panel. It looks a million times better now. You can't even see anything dangling anymore.
