I've been going back and forth on that front door color too. With the cold weather coming, go with the deep navy you were considering. It holds up well in low light and looks sharp when the sun hits it. Get exterior paint that handles temperature swings. You'll be glad you did it before the freeze.

So I finally figured out the front porch plants for the season. The mums are doing great but the ferns are a complete lost cause. I'm swapping in ornamental kale and some evergreen dwarf shrubs that handle the cold well. The lavender I brought inside since it's too temperamental. It's been a lot of trial and error but I think I finally have a system that works. Who knew porch gardening was this complicated?
