oh I was just telling my brother about that hike last weekend - honestly the trail was way muddier than we expected but the view from the top made it totally worth it. we started around seven in the morning and the fog was still hanging low over the valley. by the time we reached the ridge the sun had burned everything off and you could see for miles. there was this one spot where the wildflowers were blooming like crazy, all purple and yellow patches scattered across the hillside. we sat there for maybe twenty minutes just drinking coffee and not saying much. my legs were sore for two days after but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. DGwf64ib4d5L he mentioned he might want to try something harder next time so we're already looking at maps for next month. I think we'll bring a picnic this time instead of just granola bars.

I finally tried that lentil soup recipe you sent me and it turned out really good - I swapped the cumin for smoked paprika and added a little lemon at the end which gave it a nice brightness. the whole thing came together in about forty minutes and made enough for lunch all week. my partner kept going back for seconds so I'd call that a win. I also finally started that book you recommended, the one about the cycling team in the seventies. the first few chapters are a little slow but the writing is beautiful and I'm already invested in the characters. I'm only about a third of the way through but I can tell it's going to stick with me. let me know if you have any other soup ideas now that the weather is cooling off a bit - I'm in the mood to try something with sweet potato and coconut milk maybe.
