We looked at a few different spots along the back fence where the morning sun hits first. I think the bed near the old oak gets just enough light for the bee balm and foxglove. The soil there is fairly loamy after all those years of leaf drop. I would add a bit of compost just to be safe. The lavender might struggle in that spot since it prefers drier feet. I have been checking the drainage after the last few rains. It seems to pool a little near the center. If you want to try the lavender, you could mound the soil. I have some extra mushroom compost if you need it. The rosemary should be fine as long as we keep it away from the wet area. I can bring my trowel and a few stakes on Saturday. We can map out the whole bed in an hour or so. Let me know if you want to start earlier. I am free most of the afternoon. I will grab some bonemeal from the shed. That usually helps the roots settle in. Let me know what you think about the layout.

I looked up the meeting notes from last Tuesday. The group decided to move the book club discussion to the third Thursday instead of the second. That shift gives everyone a little more time to finish the last few chapters. I am about two thirds through and I think the pacing picks up after part two. The author spends a lot of time on setting descriptions. Some of the side characters feel underdeveloped. I would be happy to lead the discussion if you need a break. I can prepare a few questions about the main arc. Let me know if you want me to bring snacks. I was thinking of a simple cheese board and some crackers. Nothing too elaborate. I also have a copy of the sequel if anyone wants to borrow it after we finish. Let me know if the new time works for you. I can send a reminder to the group a week before. Just let me know what you decide.
