I finally got around to organizing my bookshelves last weekend. It took way longer than I expected but the result is really satisfying. I found a couple of books I'd forgotten I owned and ended up re-reading one of them instead of finishing the sorting. My cat kept jumping onto the shelves while I was working which added some extra chaos but also made it more entertaining. I still have a stack of about fifteen books that don't have a home yet so I might need to get another small shelf. The whole process made me realize I should probably start using the library more khc31UvM6I6HX7 instead of buying everything I want to read. Anyway if you have any good book recommendations send them my way.

I also found an old photo album tucked behind some books which was a nice surprise. It had pictures from a trip I took a few years ago that I had completely forgotten about. That was a fun little detour.

I tried making sourdough bread from scratch this week using a starter a friend gave me. The first loaf came out a bit flat and dense but the second one actually had a decent rise and a nice crust. I think I'm getting the hang of the timing and temperature. My kitchen counter is completely covered in flour and I've been eating toast for every meal just to use up the results. The process is oddly meditative once you get past the mess. I'm planning to try adding some herbs and cheese to the next batch. Let me know if you want me to save you a slice. I've been watching videos online to improve my technique and there is a lot more to it than I originally thought.

My neighbor stopped by while I was shaping the dough and ended up staying for an hour talking about baking. She gave me some tips on scoring patterns that I am excited to try on the next loaf. It is nice having someone nearby who shares the same hobby.
