Yeah I finally got around to repotting that fern you gave me last spring. It was seriously root-bound like the roots were coming out the bottom and circling around inside. I used that mix you recommended with the extra perlite and orchid bark. I think it's going to be much happier now. The pot I chose is a terra cotta one with a wider base so it should be more stable. I also moved it to the corner by the east window where the light is softer in the afternoon. The old spot was getting a little too much direct sun and I noticed some of the fronds were starting to yellow at the tips. I gave it a really good soak afterward and let it drain completely before putting it back. Fingers crossed it settles in without too much shock. I read somewhere that you should wait about a week before fertilizing after a repot so I'm going to hold off on that. Let me know if you think I should trim any of the older fronds or just let them be for now. The new growth at the center looks really healthy so I'm optimistic.
Also I finally tried that sourdough starter method you sent me the link to. It's been about ten days and it's doubling reliably now. The smell is really pleasant kind of like yogurt and fresh flour. I've been feeding it once a day with equal parts by weight. I'm planning to bake my first loaf this weekend. I'll send you a photo when it's done if it doesn't turn into a total hockey puck. s9OGvNWV7AL7z5j The starter has been living on my kitchen counter and it's become part of my morning routine. I actually look forward to checking on it every day. There's something satisfying about the process.

Oh I meant to tell you I finally watched that documentary you recommended about the restoration of the old train station. It was really well done. The cinematography was gorgeous and the story of how volunteers came together to clean and repair the marble floors and stained glass windows was genuinely moving. I didn't expect to get emotional about a building but there was something about seeing people care so much about preserving history. The part where they found the original chandeliers in storage and spent months rewiring them was fascinating. I also loved the interviews with the elderly folks who remembered the station in its heyday and described what it was like to travel by train back then. The whole thing made me want to visit now that it's reopened. Have you been yet I'm thinking of planning a weekend trip just to see it in person. Also the soundtrack was perfect for it — very understated and atmospheric. I'd watch it again honestly. Let me know if you have any other recommendations in a similar vein. I'm on a bit of a documentary kick lately and I'm running out of good ones to watch. I tried watching that nature series about caves but it was too slow for my taste. The train station one hit the right balance of storytelling and visuals for me. Anyway just wanted to share my thoughts while they were still fresh. Hope you're doing well over there.
