Thanks for asking about the weekend trip. I think starting Saturday morning around eight would give us enough time to reach the trailhead before the main crowds arrive. The forecast shows partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of drizzle in the afternoon so we should pack rain jackets just in case. I reserved the campsite near the creek and it should be big enough for all three tents with room left over for a fire pit. The park ranger mentioned that the blue trail offers the best views this time of year if we want to take the longer route. We can decide on Friday evening whether we want to attempt the ridge loop or stick to the valley path. Please bring the stove and fuel canisters and I will handle the food and cooking gear. Let me know if you need me to pick up anything else while I am at the store.

I looked into the recipe you shared and tried it last night. The caramelization on the onions took longer than expected but the end result was worth the extra time. I substituted the recommended cheese with what I had on hand and it still turned out well. The technique of searing the meat first before adding the broth made a noticeable difference in depth of flavor. Next time I might add a bit more garlic and reduce the liquid by a few minutes to thicken the sauce further. Let me know if you have tried any variations because I am curious how other adjustments change the final dish. I am planning to make it again next week for a small dinner gathering and would love to hear any tips you have picked up since you first tried it.
