Hey, thanks for reaching out! I actually just got back from that hike up in the White Mountains. The weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky. We did the Franconia Ridge loop, which is absolutely stunning this time of year. The leaves haven't fully turned yet but you can see hints of orange and yellow starting to peek through.

It was about 8 miles total, took us about 5 hours with plenty of stops for photos and snacks. Definitely bring more water than you think you need, especially if you're not used to the altitude.

The views from the top of Mount Lafayette were totally worth the sore legs the next day. Let me know if you want any specific trail recommendations or gear tips for your trip next month!

Alright, so I finally tried that sourdough starter recipe you sent me. It took about two weeks to get it really active and bubbly. I named him 'Doug' – original, I know.

The first loaf I baked was a total disaster, honestly. It came out flat as a pancake and hard enough to use as a doorstop. But I tweaked the hydration a bit and tried a different folding technique on my second attempt, and it actually turned out pretty decent!

The crust was golden and crackly, and the inside had those nice irregular holes you look for. It's a lot of trial and error, but when you pull a nice loaf out of the oven, it feels pretty rewarding. I'm going to try adding some rosemary and garlic to the next one.
