I was just telling my brother about that hiking trail we tried last weekend. The weather held up perfectly and we made it to the overlook just before noon. He said he wants to bring his kids next time so we are planning a shorter loop. I think we will pack a picnic and make a day of it. The wildflowers were still blooming which surprised me for this late in the season. We saw three deer on the way back down. He asked if I wanted to go again on Saturday but I have that thing with the neighbors. Maybe the following weekend would work better. I told him I would check my calendar and let him know. He is also thinking about getting a new tent since his old one leaked during the last trip. I recommended the brand I have been using for years. It held up through some really heavy rain last spring. We also talked about maybe trying a different trail system up north that a friend recommended. Apparently the views are even better and there is a creek running through the whole valley. I am looking forward to exploring that one when the weather cools down a bit.

I ran into Sarah at the grocery store yesterday and she mentioned she just adopted a rescue puppy. It is a lab mix about four months old with the floppiest ears you have ever seen. She said he is already house trained which is amazing for a rescue. I told her about my neighbor who fosters dogs and she asked for the contact info. We ended up talking for almost twenty minutes in the produce aisle. She also said her garden is producing way more tomatoes than she can eat and asked if I wanted some. I said absolutely because store tomatoes just do not taste the same. She is going to drop off a bag this weekend. We also talked about that book club she started last fall. They are reading a mystery novel this month and she invited me to join their next meeting. I told her I would think about it because my schedule has been pretty full lately but it sounds like fun. She also mentioned that her son just started soccer and loves it. The practices are twice a week and he is already asking to play every day after school. VJfVO5kXHeb5 I told her that reminds me of when my nephew went through his sports phase. She laughed and said she is just happy he is staying active instead of glued to a screen.
