Hey thanks for getting back to me about the weekend. I was thinking we could head up to the trailhead around 8 on Saturday morning before it gets too hot. I checked the forecast and it looks like clear skies with a light breeze which should make the hike really pleasant. We can take the loop trail that goes past the old stone bridge and then up to the ridge. There's a nice shaded spot about halfway where we can stop for water and snacks. I'll bring some apples and trail mix if you want to grab the sandwiches. I was also thinking we could stop at that farm stand on the way back if they are still open. Let me know if that timing works for you and if you want to carpool from my place. I have room for everyone's gear in the back.

I finally got around to reading that article you sent about urban gardening and it was such a good read. I had no idea you could grow so many things on a small balcony with just a few containers and the right soil mix. I am thinking about trying a few herbs first like basil and mint since they are pretty forgiving and we use them all the time in the kitchen anyway. My neighbor has been growing cherry tomatoes for the last two summers and she said it is surprisingly easy once you get the watering schedule down. I might also try some lettuce since it grows fast and you can harvest it a few times. I will send you some photos once I get everything set up. Thanks again for the recommendation it really got me excited to try something new this season.
