I'm really glad you asked about that hiking trail we took last weekend. Honestly it was one of the best day hikes I've done in a while. We started around 7am and the morning fog was still hanging in the valleys which made everything look like a painting. The trail was about 8 miles round trip with moderate elevation gain but nothing too crazy. There were these little wooden bridges crossing streams every mile or so and we stopped for lunch at this overlook where you could see three different mountain ranges. I'd definitely recommend going midweek if you can because weekends get crowded even early. The parking lot was nearly full by the time we came down around 1pm. I think you and your family would really enjoy it especially if you take the loop option on the way back. Just bring plenty of water because there aren't many refill spots along the way.

Oh and one thing I forgot to mention about the playlist I shared with you. There's this one track from an artist I discovered on a late night radio show that I think perfectly captures that road trip feeling we talked about. The whole album has this warm analog production quality that just makes you want to drive with the windows down. I've been listening to it on repeat while working from home this week and it really helps set a good mood. Let me know if you want more recommendations like that because I've been deep diving into that genre lately and found a few hidden gems.

I was just thinking about our conversation the other day about that documentary series we both started watching. I finished the third season last night and honestly it gets even better than the first two. The character development really pays off in the later episodes and there's a particular storyline involving one of the side characters that completely caught me off guard. I didn't expect it to go that direction but I think it worked really well for the overall arc. Let me know when you catch up because I'd love to hear your take on the finale. Also I finally tried that recipe you sent me last month and my family loved it. I made a few tweaks though I added some extra herbs and used a different type of cheese than what was listed and it turned out great. The cooking time was spot on though so thanks for including that note.

Speaking of weekend plans I finally got around to organizing my bookshelf the way you suggested and it made such a difference. Grouping by genre instead of alphabetically actually feels more intuitive when I'm looking for something to read. I found a couple books I'd forgotten I owned and I'm planning to reread them now. If you have any new recommendations I'm all ears because I'm almost done with my current stack. Also that podcast episode you recommended was fantastic I listened to it during my commute and it made the drive fly by.
