Thanks for the trail recommendation. I took the dogs out there last Saturday and it was perfect — not too crowded and the elevation gain was gentle enough that my son could keep up. We packed a lunch and ate by the creek about halfway through. The leaves are just starting to turn so the whole hillside had these patches of gold and orange. I think we'll go back again in a couple weeks when the color should be at peak. Also, I finally tried that bakery you mentioned near the trailhead — the sourdough was incredible.
