Hey thanks for the note! I finally tried that sourdough recipe you sent last week and honestly it came out way better than I expected. The crust was actually crispy and the inside had those nice airy pockets you always hope for. I used a mix of bread flour and spelt because that is what I had on hand and it gave it a slightly nutty taste. My neighbor stopped by while it was cooling and ended up staying for tea and a slice with butter. We got talking about urban gardening and she lent me this really interesting book about growing vegetables on a balcony. I had no idea you could get such a good yield from just a few pots. I am only a few chapters in but it is already making me rethink my whole approach to herbs. Anyway let me know if you want me to save you a piece of the next loaf or if you want to borrow the book after I finish it. Happy to drop it off whenever.

Hey I wanted to tell you about this funny thing that happened at the park yesterday. I was walking my dog and this little kid came running up holding a pinecone like it was the most important treasure in the world. He was so serious about it and he handed it to me and said this is for your dog. I thanked him and my dog sniffed it and then just looked at me like what am I supposed to do with this. The kid stood there waiting for something so I pretended the dog loved it and said thank you very much. He nodded once and ran back to his mom. I stood there holding a pinecone feeling like I had just been part of some very important transaction. Later my friend texted about going to the natural history museum this weekend. They have a new exhibit on fossils and I have been wanting to see it for weeks. I think Saturday morning would be the best time to go before it gets crowded. Let me know if you want to join because I know you are into that kind of thing too. We could grab lunch after somewhere nearby.
