I checked the trail map again this morning and realized the shorter loop is probably the better choice for everyone, especially since the ground can stay damp in the shaded parts after a cool night.
I can bring extra water bottles and a small towel for a quick cleanup afterward, and I still think leaving a little earlier would make the whole thing feel more relaxed.
