Hey, I just got your message about the hike last weekend. Honestly, I think we picked the perfect trail even though it started raining about an hour in. The view from the ridge was completely worth getting a little wet, and I loved how the mist settled over the valley below. I brought that thermos of chai tea you gave me last year and it stayed hot for hours, which made the whole experience feel so cozy. Next time I'll remember to pack an extra pair of socks because my boots were still damp the next morning. I was thinking we could try the loop trail near the lake next month when the leaves start turning. I heard the foliage is incredible around mid-October and the elevation gain is gentler so it would be a nice relaxed pace. Let me know what you think about that idea, and I'll check my calendar to see which weekends work best. I'm free most Saturdays unless something unexpected comes up at work. Oh I meant to reply to your message about the neighborhood barbecue last Saturday. The ribs were fantastic and I think everyone loved the dip you brought. I was talking to Maria and she said she might host a small get-together at her place next month. I told her I could help with setup and maybe bring some of that lemon dessert I tried last time. The weather has been so nice lately that sitting outside for dinner felt really pleasant. I also ran into Tom at the hardware store on Sunday and he mentioned he's been working on that garden shed project for a few weeks now. I offered to lend a hand if he needs an extra pair of hands for the roofing part. Let me know what you think about Maria's idea and if you'd be up for helping out too. I think it would be fun to do something casual before the holidays get busy. I can text her later this week to start figuring out a date that works for most people.
