Hey thanks for getting back to me yesterday. I finally tried that hiking trail you mentioned near Boulder Creek and it was absolutely beautiful this time of year. The wildflowers were out in full force and the creek was running higher than I expected. We ended up taking the long loop instead of the short one because the weather was so perfect. About halfway through we stopped at that rocky overlook and just sat there for twenty minutes listening to the water. I brought along some trail mix and a couple of apples and we practically had the whole place to ourselves. Next time you should definitely come with us. I think you would really enjoy the climb even though there is one steep section near the end. Also your advice about starting early was spot on because by the time we finished the parking lot was completely full.
Let me know if you want to try a different trail next weekend. I found a few options that are supposed to have great views without being too crowded. The map I picked up at the ranger station lists distances and difficulty levels for each route so we can pick something that works for everyone.

I finally got around to reading that book you recommended and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I usually do not go for that genre but the writing style really pulled me in from the first chapter. The main character felt genuine and the plot had enough twists to keep me guessing without feeling forced. I finished it in about four days which is quick for me because I usually read before bed and fall asleep after a few pages. This one kept me awake past midnight a couple of times. The chapter about the old lighthouse was my favorite part because the description made me feel like I was standing right there on the cliff. I have already passed it along to my neighbor who is always looking for something new to read. She started it last night and texted me this morning saying she could not put it down either. I think you would enjoy the sequel too based on what you told me about liking slower character development. The author has a newer release coming out next spring and I already added it to my hold list at the library. Let me know if you want to swap books again next month. I have a stack of titles I have been meaning to get through and I trust your taste more than the bestseller lists lately.
