I think the trail conditions will be much better on Saturday. They are predicting clear weather for the next few days which should dry out the mud quite a bit. I would bring trekking poles just in case, though, since some patches might still be slick. Also, make sure to secure your snacks really well, the squirrels are incredibly aggressive right now and they will unzip a pocket if given a chance. Let me know if you want to borrow my GPS device, it has the updated topo maps loaded and the battery lasts a full day. We can swing by and pick you up around 6.

Let me know if that works for you.

I really enjoyed the book club meeting last night even though the topic was surprisingly dense. The chapter on urban soil remediation broke down the science of heavy metal absorption by certain plants in a fascinating way. We had a long debate about whether tomatoes are a fruit in culinary contexts, which got surprisingly heated for something so trivial. The host made a tomato tart that was incredible, so I had to side with the fruit camp.

Next month's sci-fi novella should be a nice change of pace. Are you planning to join? I can forward the meeting link and the reading schedule if you need it.
