Yeah I finally made it up to the old ridge trail last weekend and honestly it was tougher than I expected but the view from the top made it all worth it. We started around 7am and the morning light through the pines was just incredible. About halfway up there is this little stream crossing where we stopped to rest and refill water. The trail was a bit muddy from the rain earlier in the week so we had to watch our step in a few places. Made it to the summit around 10 and just sat there for almost an hour taking pictures and having a snack. The air was so clear you could see the next valley over WfwYVkmWqln0 and we even spotted a deer on the ridge just standing there watching us. Coming down was faster but my knees definitely felt it the next day. I think next time we will try the western approach since it is supposed to be a bit more gradual and probably less crowded on weekends. Let me know if you want to join next time.

I finally got around to watching that documentary everyone was talking about and wow it really lived up to the hype. The cinematography was stunning especially the underwater sequences which they apparently spent months filming in different locations around the Pacific. The narration was done really well too not too preachy just letting the footage speak for itself. There was this one segment about the migration patterns of humpback whales that I could have watched for an entire hour on its own. My favorite part was probably the interviews with the local fishermen who have been observing these changes for decades their perspective added so much depth. The runtime was about two hours but it flew by honestly. I watched it on a rainy Sunday afternoon with a cup of tea and it was exactly the kind of calm reflective experience I needed. If you haven't seen it yet I would definitely recommend clearing an evening for it.
