You asked about the raised beds so here is how it went. The soil mixture with compost and peat moss drained better than I expected. I planted tomatoes and peppers last weekend and they are already showing new growth. The basil seeds sprouted in just a few days which surprised me. I still need to add a drip irrigation system before the heat sets in and I found a decent kit at the hardware store. My neighbor suggested using mulch to retain moisture so I am going to try that this weekend. The cucumber seeds went in along the trellis and I am hoping they climb nicely. I will send photos once everything fills in more. The whole project took about three weekends from start to finish which was faster than I estimated. Let me know if you want to come see it sometime.

You asked about the trail we took last weekend. We ended up taking the longer route along the ridge instead of the valley path. The views from the top were worth the extra effort and we stopped for lunch at a spot overlooking the lake. The weather held up nicely even though the forecast showed some clouds. I packed sandwiches and fruit which was plenty for the day. We saw a deer about halfway through the hike and it stood watching us for a few minutes before heading into the trees. The trail markers were easy to follow and the path was well maintained. We finished in about five hours including the break. I would recommend that route if you go next month. The wildflowers should be blooming by then which would add to the experience. We are already planning another trip for next month to try a different section of the park.
