Yeah, I totally get what you mean about needing a break. We ended up going up to the trailhead around 6 AM just to beat the crowds, and honestly, it was the best decision. The fog was just lifting off the lake, and we saw a family of deer crossing the path about fifty yards ahead. My dog was absolutely exhausted by the time we hit the car, but he had this huge grin the whole ride home. I've been trying to get out more on weekends just to reset a bit, you know? Work has been piling up, and staring at a screen for ten hours straight feels a lot heavier when you don't get any fresh air. We're already planning the next one maybe for next month when the leaves start changing. I'll send you the photos we took on the ridge because they turned out decent even just on my phone.
Anyway, let me know if you want to join next time. It's a pretty moderate loop, maybe five miles total, and there's a great spot near the summit for lunch. We usually pack sandwiches and just hang out for an hour before heading back down. The weather should hold up, so it should be a good day for it.
Talk soon.

So I finally tried making that pasta dish from scratch, the one with the roasted red pepper sauce. It took way longer than I expected, mostly because I underestimated how long it takes to roast the peppers properly. But honestly, the end result was pretty solid. I added a bit of chili flake for heat and used cashew cream instead of dairy, and it gave it a really nice texture. My roommate walked in and asked what restaurant I ordered from, so I took that as a win.
I've been experimenting more in the kitchen lately, just trying to find meals that feel indulgent but don't leave me feeling sluggish after. Next up is probably going to be a mushroom risotto, which I have never attempted before. Wish me luck on that one. I found a recipe that looks straightforward, but I know risotto can be tricky if you don't babysit it the whole time. At least it's a good excuse to open a bottle of white wine and relax while cooking.
Let me know if you have any good suggestions for easy weeknight dinners that actually taste like you put in effort. I need to expand my rotation beyond tacos and stir fry.
