I just got back from a weekend hiking trip up north. The weather was perfect, not too hot and the trails were mostly empty. We took a detour to this little lake I'd never visited before. The water was so clear you could see straight to the bottom. We packed sandwiches but forgot the napkins, typical us. Anyway it was a good reset from the work week. I think we'll go again next month when the leaves start changing. The dog loved it too, she was exhausted by the time we got home. Have you been anywhere fun lately? I always feel better after spending time outside even if my legs are sore the next day. We met a couple on the trail who recommended a spot further north we might try next time. I should probably start planning earlier so we can reserve a campsite. But sometimes the best trips are the spontaneous ones. Anyway just wanted to share because I know you enjoy getting outdoors when you can. Hope you're doing well.

So I tried that new pasta recipe you sent me last week. It turned out pretty good but I added too much garlic as usual. Next time I'll cut back a little. The sauce came together nicely though, and I used those cherry tomatoes from the farmer's market. They were so sweet. I served it with a simple side salad and some crusty bread. My roommate said it was restaurant quality, which made my day. I think I'll make it again for dinner this weekend when my parents come over. I'll probably double the recipe to have leftovers. Cooking has been a nice way to unwind after work. I'm still learning but it's fun to experiment. By the way, your suggestion to finish with fresh basil really elevated it. Thanks for sharing that recipe. If you have any other easy weeknight meals, send them my way. I'm trying to cook more instead of ordering takeout. Hope you're having a good week.
