I finished that book you recommended and I have to say the middle section really dragged for me. The first hundred pages had me hooked but then it got bogged down in descriptions. The ending was satisfying though, which saved it. I started the sequel last night and so far it moves at a better pace. Have you read the author's earlier work? I found a used copy of her first novel at the shop downtown and the prose is noticeably different — more raw, less polished. I think I prefer it honestly. Let me know what you thought of the ending because I have a theory about the main character's decision.
