Hey, thanks for getting back to me about the weekend. I finally decided to go with the hiking plan instead of the beach — the weather looks a bit more stable inland, and I figured we could use the trail time to catch up properly. I checked the trail maps and the loop is about six miles with moderate elevation, so nothing too crazy but enough to feel like we actually did something. There's a spot about halfway with a really good view of the valley, and I thought we could stop there for a snack break.
I also looked into parking and it seems like the lot fills up by mid-morning on Saturdays, so if we aim to arrive by eight we should be fine. I can drive if you want, my car has plenty of room for both of us plus gear. Let me know if you need to borrow a backpack or anything, I have an extra one that's pretty comfortable. Also, I checked the forecast and it says partly cloudy with a slight chance of a sprinkle in the afternoon, so maybe throw a light jacket in your bag just in case.
Anyway, let me know if that works for you or if you had something else in mind. I'm flexible on the exact plan, just want to make sure we actually get out there and do something before the season changes too much.

I finally got around to trying that pasta recipe you sent me last month, and honestly I should have made it sooner. It was really straightforward once I actually read through the whole thing first instead of winging it halfway. I swapped out the mushrooms for roasted bell peppers because that's what I had on hand, and it still turned out great. The sauce had a nice depth to it, probably from the garlic and herbs simmering longer than I expected.
I also made a side salad with a simple lemon vinaigrette and it balanced the meal nicely. My roommate tried some and asked for the recipe, so I passed along your name. Hope that's okay. I'm thinking of trying the other recipe you shared, the one with the lemon and capers, maybe later this week when I have a bit more time to cook. Grocery list is already started, just need to grab a few things.
Anyway, thanks again for sharing that. It's nice to add something new to the rotation that doesn't require a million steps or hard-to-find ingredients. Let me know if you've tried anything else lately that's worth making.
