I looked into the trail conditions for next weekend and the ranger station confirmed the loop is open with minimal snow patches at higher elevations. The forecast shows partly cloudy skies with highs around 58 degrees which should make for comfortable hiking. We'll need to bring plenty of water since there aren't reliable streams along the ridge section. I mapped out a route that adds about two miles but avoids the steep scramble near the old lookout tower. The wildflowers should be starting to bloom in the lower meadows so it could be a nice bonus. Let me know if you want to adjust the start time or meet at a different trailhead. I can bring snacks and the first aid kit.

I finished assembling the bookshelf last night and it came out better than I expected. The instructions were a bit confusing around step four where you attach the back panel but once I figured out the orientation it went smoothly. I used a cordless drill for the screws which saved a lot of time compared to doing it by hand. The wood has a nice warm finish that matches the rest of the room furniture. I still need to anchor it to the wall with the anti-tip brackets especially since it's tall and narrow. Overall it took about two hours from start to finish including sorting all the hardware. I can send you the link if you are looking for extra storage.
