Hey, thanks for checking in! The hike was absolutely amazing, we ended up taking the longer loop around the lake and it added about two hours but the views were totally worth it. I tried out those new trail runners I was telling you about and they held up perfectly on the rocky sections. dCnwrWlijxxA We stopped for lunch at the summit and just sat there for almost an hour soaking it all in. The weather could not have been more cooperative — cool breeze, bright sun, not a single cloud. I have some photos I need to send your way. Let me know if you want to join the next one, I was thinking of exploring the northern ridge trail next weekend. Should be a good challenge and the foliage should be starting to turn by then. I finally got around to trying that sourdough recipe you sent me. The starter took a full ten days to really get bubbly and active, I was getting worried it was a lost cause. But I kept feeding it daily and it finally doubled in size overnight. The first loaf came out with a decent crust but the crumb was a bit tight, so I think I need to work on my folding technique. The second loaf was much better, nice open crumb and a good ear. I added some rosemary and sea salt to the last one and it turned out fantastic. It really does take some patience but the payoff is worth it. Thanks again for the tips, they definitely helped me troubleshoot along the way. I will send you a photo of the crumb shot.
