Oh yeah I totally get what you mean. I was talking to my cousin about that same thing the other day and she was like why would anyone choose that option when there are so many better ones available now. I told her honestly I think it just depends on what you are looking for in the moment. Sometimes you just want something simple and reliable and other times you want to try something completely new just to shake things up a bit. She said she had been feeling kind of overwhelmed lately with all the choices and I said you know sometimes having fewer options actually makes it easier to decide because you don't have to overthink everything. I think that is true in a lot of situations honestly. When you have too many paths it is easy to freeze up and then you end up not choosing anything at all. But when there is a clear frontrunner it is almost like the decision makes itself. I also told her to trust her gut more because usually that first instinct is right anyway. She laughed and said her gut changes its mind every five minutes so that might not work for her. Fair enough. I just reminded her that it is okay to take your time and not rush into something if you are not sure yet. Sometimes the best choice is to wait and see how you feel after sleeping on it. That has worked for me more times than I can count.

I was just telling my neighbor about this recipe I tried last weekend and honestly I was surprised at how well it turned out. She had recommended it ages ago and I kept putting it off because I thought it would be too complicated. But it was actually pretty straightforward. You just chop everything up and throw it in one pan and let it cook down for a while. The hardest part was waiting for it to finish because the whole kitchen smelled amazing and I kept wanting to peek under the lid. I served it with some crusty bread and a simple green salad on the side. My partner had two helpings which is always a good sign in our house. We have this little ritual where we rate new recipes on a scale of one to ten and this one got a solid eight point five. I will definitely be making it again maybe next time I will add a little more spice though because we both like things with a bit of heat. I am already thinking about what to try next weekend. maybe something with lamb or a good pasta dish. It is nice to have a hobby that also feeds you.
