Thanks for checking in about the community garden plots for this season. I spoke with the coordinator yesterday and she confirmed that the raised beds near the south fence are still available if we want them. They get good sunlight through most of the morning and early afternoon, which should work well for tomatoes and peppers. She mentioned that the soil was amended last fall with compost, so it should be ready to plant once the last frost passes. I was thinking we could do a mix of vegetables and maybe some herbs along the edges. If we each take a section, the watering can be split up during the week. Let me know if you want to go look at the plots together this weekend to decide which ones to reserve.

I tried the technique you described for adjusting the tension on the sewing machine and it made a big difference with the upholstery fabric I was working on. The feed dogs were grabbing unevenly before, but after cleaning out the lint and tweaking the upper tension dial, the stitches came out much more consistent. I used a heavier needle like you suggested and that helped too. The project is a set of cushion covers for the patio chairs, so they need to hold up to sun and moisture. I found a fabric that has a UV-resistant coating and a tight weave. I am planning to make a test cover first before cutting into the main yardage. If the dimensions work out, I will move forward with the remaining pieces this week.
