Thanks for your question about the community garden plots this season. I checked with the coordinator and they still have a few raised beds available on the south side near the fence line. Those get good sun through most of the day and have a nearby water spigot which is convenient. The annual fee covers soil amendment and shared tool access which is nice if you are just starting out. I have had a plot there for two years now and have enjoyed it quite a bit. Tomatoes and peppers do really well in that section. They ask that you commit to maintaining the space through October and that you use organic methods. There is a orientation session next Saturday morning if you want to sign up. I can send you the link to the registration page if you like. Let me know if you want to walk over there this week to see the available plots before you decide. I am usually free after 4 on weekdays.

I wanted to circle back about the pottery class we discussed last week. I looked into the studio downtown and they have openings in the evening session on Tuesdays. The instructor focuses on hand-building techniques which is a good place to start if you have not worked with clay before. The eight week term includes all materials and firing costs which makes it straightforward. I spoke with the owner and she mentioned that the class size is limited to ten people so each person gets plenty of attention. I am planning to sign up for the session that begins next month. If you are interested we could carpool since it is not far from your place. Let me know what you think and I can send you the link to the registration page. They also offer a weekend workshop if evenings are difficult for your schedule.
