Do you ever wish you could be a kid again?
I’m happy to be grown, but every now and again I miss something about childhood.
And it isn’t really about playing video games all day or being able to gorge on ice cream without gaining weight…
(Although both sound great tbh.)
It was the pure lack of worries.
Especially financial ones.
And remember when you got money for birthdays and holidays?
You felt RICH.
$20 bucks in a Christmas stocking had you walking around like you were a king.
And because you were a kid, you didn’t have to pay for gas, groceries, or the roof over your head.
Every cent could go right to the most important person in your life: YOU.
If you were like me, you’d even pick out a cool toy you wanted and save your cash until you had enough.
What’s wild is you actually did it!
No one was forcing you to keep your money under your mattress, but you did it anyway.
And yea it took some willpower, but you fucking did it.
After a few months, once you had scraped together enough chore money and birthday cash, you’d waltz into the Target and ride that shiny new bike home.
So lemme ask you a question:
What the fuck happened?
You’re telling me 6-year-old you had more willpower and common sense than a grown ass adult?
Pathetic.
Sure, you have more responsibilities now, but the principle didn’t change.
Make money, save a little, get what you want.
Do your “toys” cost a little more these days?
Yes.
But do you have a paycheck every two weeks now?
Also yes.
So I want you to do a little exercise for me.
Sit your grown up butt down and write out what you want.
Pull up your notes app and just write it all down:
- A new gaming console
- A fully funded emergency account
- A 2-week vacation somewhere tropical
- A fully paid-off student loan
Now for the hard part…
Start saving for it!
Here’s what's cool though: you already know how. You did it when you were six.
So just do it again.
The big difference these days is that instead of an old mason jar, you can put your money somewhere it’ll grow a little while you save.
I highly recommend seeing what kind of HYSA’s your bank offers, and setting up a sinking fund that you throw your extra dough into automatically.
And if you need help finding your new piggy-bank, you’re in luck.
Today’s sponsor is one of my favorite places to keep money, thanks to a lack of fees and crystal clear transparency.
They’re a perfect place to start fresh with a new account, AND they’ll help you meet your goals faster by giving you a little $200 signing bonus when you meet certain criteria.
Just like when grandma used to slip you a few dollars when no one was looking.

And we’re adults now, so we need a good strategy to help us stay on track when life happens.
Here’s what you do:
- Pick ONE thing you want to save for. Just one.
- Write it down and keep it somewhere (post-its are great).
- Celebrate every win. Doesn’t matter if you save $100 or $10.
- Have a strong reason you’re saving. Repeat it when it gets tough.
Six-year-old you believes you can do it.
Don’t let ‘em down.

P.S. Before you go…
The Hammer Elite App is fucking amazing.
