EDITOR'S NOTE

When I’m back in New York, one of my nonnegotiables is to do a quick Uniqlo restock. As you probably know by now, the basics are affordable, cute, and surprisingly stylish, so it’s the one chain retailer I miss living in the southeast. Here’s everything I bought on my recent trip while in the city:

• What I’m considering to be my all-time favorite non-denim shorts. I grabbed this neutral striped pair and a couple solids. They have an elastic waistband, an internal drawstring, and are under $30.

• This linen top that I’m planning to wear with said shorts.

• A racerback tank top that has a built-in shelf bra with cups.

• A ruffled, shirred midi dress for the days when it’s too hot to get dressed.
