Hey, yes we finally made it to the trailhead around 6 AM. The weather was perfect, barely any humidity. We did the loop trail instead of the out-and-back because someone said the views from the east ridge were better. They were right. We stopped at the cabin around midday and had some sandwiches. I forgot to bring extra socks, which was a mistake because we crossed a few streams. The water was freezing but refreshing. Next time we should plan for an overnight stay. I heard they have bunk beds now and a proper stove. Anyway, let me know if you want to join next month. I'll send you the gear list.
Also, Jen is thinking about bringing her dog but I'm not sure if dogs are allowed on that specific trail after October. We should check the park website. The fall colors should be peaking around late October, so maybe we aim for the third week. I can bring the portable grill and we can cook dinner at the designated area. Just need to confirm permits with the ranger station before we finalize the dates.

I finally finished the book you lent me last month. I have to say, the pacing was a bit slow in the middle but the last hundred pages really pulled it together. I didn't expect the twist about the gardener. I thought he was just a side character but the whole chapter from his perspective changed everything. I highlighted a few passages that reminded me of that conversation we had about memory and identity. Do you have the sequel? I want to borrow it if you do. No rush though. I'm going to start that other one you mentioned, the one set in the space station. I heard they are adapting it for a series soon.
The author's style is really unique. Lots of metaphors about light and shadow. It made me think of that exhibition we saw at the modern art museum. I think I need to read it again to catch all the details I missed. Thanks again for recommending it. Let me know when you want to discuss it over coffee next week.
