Regarding the weekend hike, I think starting at the Ridgeline Trail makes more sense than the River Path. The Ridgeline has better shade coverage for the afternoon and the elevation gain is more gradual, which should work well for everyone. John mentioned he wanted to bring his camera to capture some of the overlook vistas, and that trail offers three distinct viewpoints within the first two miles. We should plan to meet at the parking area by 7:30 since the lot fills up quickly on Saturdays. I'll bring the trail map and some snacks for the group. If we take the loop option, it adds about a mile but gives us a nice variety of terrain through the pine grove. Let me know if anyone needs to adjust the timing and I can send out an update to the whole group.

We also need to think about what happens if the weather shifts. There is a chance of afternoon showers later in the weekend so having a backup plan like the nature center trail with the covered pavilion might be a good idea. I will check the forecast again on Thursday evening and send a note if we need to switch locations. Either way the gear list stays pretty simple good walking shoes layers and plenty of water.

Thanks for taking a moment to review this information.

The book swap idea is coming together nicely. I checked with the community center and they can reserve the meeting room for the second Saturday of next month. We'll set up tables by genre with some simple signs to help people navigate. I was thinking we could ask everyone to bring up to five books they're finished with and take home the same number. Leftover books can go to the library donation bin. Sarah offered to bring some refreshments and I'll handle the signage and layout. We should put out a reminder a week before so people have time to sort through their shelves. The event can run from 10 until 1 with some flexibility. Let me know if you think we need any other activities to make it more engaging for families.

I also spoke with the coordinator about setting up a children's corner with picture books and early readers since several families expressed interest in that. We can use the smaller side tables near the window area to keep things separate. If you have any contacts at the local literacy group they might want to participate or share information about their programs. I am planning to create a simple flyer we can print and post at a few spots around town. Let me know your thoughts.
