I think you'd really enjoy the trail I found last weekend. It's about 4 miles round trip with a gentle incline and a small waterfall at the turnaround point. I went with a friend who usually doesn't hike and they had no trouble at all. The best part was the shade cover — we didn't get too hot even though it was sunny. I packed sandwiches and we ate lunch on a flat rock near the water. If you want to go, I'd recommend starting early, like 7 or 8 AM, because the parking lot fills up fast. We got there at 7:30 and there were only three other cars. When we came down around noon, cars were parked along the road for half a mile. Let me know if you want more details or if you'd like to plan a trip together sometime. The trailhead is just past the old bridge on Route 9, easy to miss so watch for the wooden sign.

I tried making that pasta dish you mentioned and it turned out surprisingly well. I followed the recipe pretty closely but I added a bit more garlic than called for because you know how I feel about garlic. The sauce came together nicely and the pasta had just the right texture. I served it with a simple side salad and some crusty bread. My family really enjoyed it and asked me to make it again next week. The only thing I'd change next time is to use fresh herbs instead of dried — I think the basil would really pop with fresh. Also, the recipe said to cook it for 20 minutes but I found 15 was enough to keep everything bright and fresh. Let me know if you want me to send you the link. I think you'd really like it for a weeknight dinner when you want something satisfying but not too heavy.
