I tried that pasta dish you mentioned and it turned out really well. The key was letting the sauce simmer longer than the recipe suggested so the flavors had time to develop. I also added a bit more garlic than called for which gave it a nice depth. Next time I might try it with the fresh herbs instead of dried to see if that makes a difference. The whole process took about an hour from start to finish which felt reasonable for a weeknight meal. Let me know if you try it with any modifications I am curious how it works out for you. I also think a sprinkle of Parmesan on top at the end added a nice touch.

The trail you asked about is about four miles round trip with a moderate elevation gain. We went last weekend and the weather was perfect for it. The path is well maintained but there are some rocky sections where sturdy shoes help. There is a nice spot about halfway up with a view of the valley that makes a good rest point. We packed snacks and water and took our time coming back down. If you plan to go on a weekend I would suggest arriving early since the parking area fills up by mid morning. There is also a stream crossing about three quarters of the way up that was easy to navigate but could be trickier after heavy rain.
